Browse recommended lists by genre, search for books on specific topics and in specific reading levels, or look for stories similar to your favorites.

Newbery Award
The Newbery Medal was named for eighteenth-century British bookseller John Newbery. It is awarded annually by the Association for Library Service to Children, a division of the American Library Association, to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children.

Newbery Honor Books
This is a list of the books that were short-listed for the Newbery Award. These are also great choices if you are looking for an award winning book!

Mildred L. Batchelder Award
Mildred L. Batchelder Honor Books
This award, established in her honor in 1966, is a citation awarded to an American publisher for a children's book considered to be the most outstanding of those books originally published in a foreign language in a foreign country, and subsequently translated into English and published in the United States. ALSC gives the award to encourage American publishers to seek out superior children's books abroad and to promote communication among the peoples of the world.

National Book Award for Young People's Literature
National Book Award for Young People's Literature Shortlisted Books
The National Book Award is awarded by the National Book Foundation. Award for Young People's Literature presented each year in November to recognize the outstanding contribution to children's literature.
The Carnegie Medal
The Carnegie Medal Shortlisted Books
The Carnegie Medal is awarded by children's librarians for an outstanding book for children and young people.

Michael L. Printz Award
Michael L. Printz Award Honor Books

The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature. It is named for a Topeka, Kansas school librarian who was a long-time active member of the Young Adult Library Services Association. For more information go to the Michael L. Printz Award Site.
